Welcome to my list of what you need to have a complete kitchen.

This post offers a list of kitchen items that are essentials in every kitchen.

This is not an exhaustive list of the must-have things in every kitchen, but it will help you put together the basic kitchen needs if you are just starting out.

Alternatively, you can consider this post as a gift list for kitchen lovers.

Or a list of potential gifts for chefs or aspiring chefs.

This kitchen tools that are essential in my kitchen, but I think in everyone’s kitchen.

#1 Pots & Pans

Pots and pans are naturally essential in any kitchen.

A good basic set is the essential.

All of my cookware is riveted stainless steel – I have several sizes, and I find them to be super.

Make sure they fit your stovetop, and especially that they have a good bottom.

Also, you need to make sure the lids fit and that the handles stay cool.

#2 Mixing Bowls

It’s important to have bowls in your kitchen.

I use them for almost everything in meal preparation.

Use the large ones for making meatballs, the medium ones for preparing chopped vegetables like potatoes, celery and carrots or for mixing batters and the small one for beating eggs and sauces.

I personally use the glass ones and I’m very happy with them.

#3 Measuring Jug

A good measuring jug is essential.

I have two.

One made of Pyrex and one made of plastic.

The Pyrex one is very useful, heat resistant, suitable for gas and electric stoves, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher safe.

A very useful item for many recipes.

#4 Cutting Board

These cutting boards are easy to clean with a cloth. It’s also safe to wash in the dishwasher for a deeper clean.

It is always good practice to separate raw foods.

Use the large one for meats and the medium and small ones for veggies and fruits to reduce the risk of food contamination.

I have 3 that I use regularly.

There are so many things you need in your kitchen.

And in a minimalist kitchen, you really need to get back to basics.

Aside from the knife and the pan, there is no thing much more important than the wooden spoon.

This is the main thing you use for stirring when cooking, for mixing soups and stews or, in fact, anything.

Why the wood? Because it doesn’t melt when you leave it in the pan and it doesn’t damage the pans.
