How To Cook Frozen Dumplings In Air Fryer

Straight from the freezer to the air fryer.

For the preparation of this recipe, you do not need to thaw the dumplings.

Preheat the air fryer for a few minutes.

Place the  Potstickers   in the air fryer basket, being careful not to overlap them.

With the help of a kitchen brush, brush some oil the dumplings or use spray oil.

Cook for about 10 minutes, halfway through cooking remember to flip the potstickers  for a unique crispness.

How To Cook Homemade Dumplings In Air Fryer

If we want to cook homemade Potstickers instead, I recommend to let them cook for about two minutes less than frozen ones, check them after 4 minutes of cooking and turn them over and let them cook for another two minutes.

Why Did They Burn?

All air fryers cook slightly differently.

Check them after about six minutes to see if the dumplings have reached the desired crispness.

Also, did you add a little spray oil? The oil spray definitely helps make them crispier without burning.

Air Fryer Pot Stickers Cooking Tips

  • Cook in just a single layer.
  • Make sure you spread the oil all over the surface of the Potstickers , so as not to risk it becoming hard and not crispy.
  • Do not thaw dumplings before cooking them in the air fryer.
  • Always check during cooking. Cooking time depends on the size of the  Potstickers  and the model of air fryer.
  • Use an oil sprayer as this helps you cover the entire surface of the dumplings to ensure the best results.

How To Prepare The Dumpling Dipping Sauce

Recipe FAQ

Are Chinese dumplings the same as potstickers?

A potsticker is a different type of dumplings.

The main characteristics that distinguish a potsticker from other dumplings are:

Cooking style: Typically, potstickers are first pan-fried, to make the bottom crispy, and then steamed.

On the other hand, I have seen other dumplings boiled, par-boiled, poached, simmered, braised, fried, baked, grilled, broiled, smoked, and even barbecued.

Meat filling: Most potstickers tend to use a meat filling mixed with vegetables.

Dumplings use a much wider range of ingredients, including seafood, cheese, root vegetables, legumes, etc.

Wheat wrappers: Almost all potstickers use a dough wrapper made of wheat.

Most dumplings also use a wheat wrapper, but many also use wrappers made of rice flour or other types of flour.

Shape: Most potstickers are shaped like a crescent moon.

Dumplings come in many shapes: round, cone-shaped, flat, circular, long, triangular and many more.

How To Store Leftover Dumplings

If you have any leftover potstickers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheat them in the air fryer for about 3 to 4 minutes at 350°F (180°C).
